ADDV-10-EG GLASKLAR is a low-viscosity, addition-curing silicone designed for transparent electronic potting and encapsulation. With a mixed viscosity of only 600 ± 150 mPa·s, the compound flows readily around components and into narrow gaps, curing to a soft, elastic silicone with a Shore A hardness of 10. Ideal for encapsulating sensitive electronic and mechanical components where transparency, moisture protection and vibration damping are required.
ADDV-10-EG GLASKLAR has been specifically developed for the potting and encapsulation of electronic components. Unlike conventional mould-making silicones, its primary purpose is not to provide the tear strength required for flexible moulds, but to create a soft, transparent and protective encapsulation around sensitive components.
Thanks to its high transparency, encapsulated components remain visible. This is particularly advantageous for LEDs, displays, optical assemblies and applications where the condition of the embedded electronics needs to remain visually inspectable. Its low viscosity also enables the silicone to flow easily around small components and into complex geometries.

The material is therefore suitable for professional electronic potting applications as well as prototypes, small production runs, repairs and customised electronic assemblies.
Processing
Component A and component B are carefully mixed at a ratio of 1 : 1 by weight. At 25 °C, the working time is approximately 30–60 minutes. At room temperature, the material cures within approximately 4–6 hours.
Higher temperatures can accelerate the curing process. As temperature, component geometry and potting volume can influence the reaction, preliminary trials are recommended when using different curing conditions.
To achieve a virtually bubble-free potting result with optimum optical quality, avoid introducing excessive air during mixing. Entrapped air can be removed after mixing by vacuum degassing in a vacuum desiccator.
Important information on addition-curing silicones
The curing reaction of addition-curing silicones can be inhibited by certain substances. This may result in sticky, noticeably softer or incompletely cured areas.
- Use nitrile gloves only during processing. Latex gloves may interfere with the platinum-catalysed curing reaction.
- Mixing containers and tools must be clean and free from residues of other materials.
- Particular care is required when the silicone may come into contact with sulphur compounds, amines, certain polyurethanes, condensation-curing silicones and various oils, greases, waxes and resins.
- For unknown materials, coatings or component surfaces, a preliminary compatibility test is always recommended.
- ADDV-10-EG GLASKLAR cannot be coloured using R&G Universal Colour Pastes.
Not intended for mould making
Due to its relatively low tear strength, ADDV-10-EG GLASKLAR is not intended for producing mechanically demanding silicone moulds. Its particular strength lies in transparent electronic potting and comparable applications requiring soft, elastic encapsulation.
Frequently asked questions
Is ADDV-10-EG suitable for potting printed circuit boards?
Yes. Printed circuit boards and similar electronic assemblies are among the intended applications of this material. For unknown coatings, potting housings or other contact materials, a compatibility test should be carried out beforehand.
Can the silicone potting compound be used for LEDs?
Yes. Thanks to its crystal-clear transparency, the silicone is particularly suitable for LED potting and other applications where light transmission or visibility of the encapsulated component needs to be maintained.
How soft is the cured silicone?
With a Shore A hardness of 10 ± 2, the material remains very soft and elastic. This allows sensitive components to be flexibly embedded and mechanically isolated from vibration.
Can ADDV-10-EG be used as a mould-making silicone?
This product is not intended for that purpose. Due to its relatively low tear strength, we recommend using dedicated R&G mould-making silicones for conventional silicone moulds.
Can components A and B be ordered separately?
No. The two components are batch-matched and are therefore supplied exclusively as a corresponding A+B set.
